Hospitality

               Hello friends,
Though I do entertain people sometimes with corny one-liners and self-humiliating stories when under intense pressure.... when it comes to having people in and out of my home I prefer to refer to it as hospitality. The difference, in my mind, between "entertaining guests." and "practicing hospitality" is that to entertain is merely to gratify one's desire to be entertained and to have fun and eat well, putting abundant pressure on the hostess to meet even the highest of expectations and be a perfect home EC diva (which for me would be an unreachable goal :) vs. practicing hospitality which is really just opening your heart and home to all those who could be blessed by your efforts. If your heart is in your hospitality then there is no need to stress about toothbrush scrubbed clean floors, shiny sparkling dishes, the newest Martha Stewart recipe for grilled shrimp skewers,  perfectly fixed hair, and the most fashionable hostess wear. All this is beside the real point....to bless people and show love.
I wish you much luck in blessing those you care about this Christmas season and in slowing down and enjoying the season and finding the true meaning of Christmas.
